New Beginning Adult Literacy Center’s design is inspired by a Kate Solohub’s oil painting named ”Rainbow after the storm”. The concept of rainbows appearing after storms correlates to the struggles that most incoming adult learners are overcoming from their past life, and the hope of a new life that the center will provide for them. The design uses repetition, balance, contrast and emphasis to create unity between colors, shapes, lines, and textures. New Beginning’s focus is to create an environment that is dynamic, uplifting, and visually impactful. A spectrum of bold, saturated hues inspired by the colors of a rainbow will be used to infuse the space with joy, energy, creativity, and optimism throughout. Curved lines, circular forms, and fluid geometries reminiscent of a rainbow's arc will be incorporated into architectural details, furniture, and decorative elements to evoke a sense of movement and flow. The design also includes colorful 3D wayfinding components placed on the floors and walls for the comfort of visitors to navigate the space effortlessly.
